The Charter of Center for Global Chinese Business of Soochow University

Article 1

On the basis of the deep-seated tradition of international cooperation and cross-strait academic exchange with Mainland China, in line with the “new southbound” policy of the government, taking a forward-looking approach and in order to promote talents focusing on cross-disciplines and cross-borders study of Chinese business globally, Soochow University(hereinafter referred to as“the University”)has hereby established the Global Chinese Business Study Center of (“the Center”) in accordance withthe Rules on the Establishment and Assessment of Study Centers of the University.

Article 2

The tasks of the Center are:

  1. To study the business environment of global Chinese businesses;
  2. To accept the entrustment of the government, enterprises, and individuals to develop strategies for coping with the business environment of Chinese businesses;
  3. To study the history and culture of global Chinese businesses;
  4. To study the public welfare undertaking of global Chinese businesses;
  5. To design and create online and offline courses on the business environment, history, and culture of global Chinese businesses;
  6. To cooperate with other departments of the school to prepare and offer cross-disciplinary courses related to the research on Chinese businesses;
  7. To promote other matters related to the research on global Chinese businesses.

Article 3

The Center may establish several such sub-groups as may be required by its tasks and assign such several group leaders as needed.

Article 4

The Centershall have a planning and decision-making committee consisting of nine members, of which the director and chief executive officer shall be ex officio members. The committee is responsible for planning and developing the research direction of the Center, and examining the appointment of new recruits and the revision of this constitution. The planning and decision-making committee shall initially consist of members of the preparatory team of the Center and be appointed upon the recommendation, the director of the Center, with a term of three years. From the starting of the second term, each member of the planning decision-making committee shall be appointed upon a school or the Center’s recommendation. All members of the committee shall serve three-year termsand may be reelected for consecutive terms.

Article 5

The Center shall have one director in place, who shall be responsible for the overall organization, planning, and promotion of the business of the Center. The director of the Center shall be selected from members of the planning and decision-making committee upon the recommendation of such members. The director shall serve three-year terms and may be reelected for consecutive terms.

Article 6

This Center shall have one Chief Executive Officer in place, who coordinates the planning and manages the operation of the Center. The Chief Executive Officer shall be nominated by the Director from the members of the Planning and decision-Making Commission.

Article 7

The Center has several Advisory Commissioners in place. The candidates of the Advisory Commissioners shall be recommended by the Director and appointed following the consent of the Planning and Decision Making Commission. The service term of the Advisory Commissioners shall be one to three years.

Article 8

All domesticand foreign expertsand scholars who agree with the purpose of our Center of the Association and intend to engage in the study of Chinese business people around the world may be recruited as the researchers of the Center by the recommendation of one to three members of the Planning and Decision-making Committee.

Article 9

The Center shall have one or two secretaries in place, who shall have to assist the Director and Chief Executive Officer in handling the business of the Center and promote the activity of the Center.

Article 10

The center shall have publication resultsor related seminars every year. Before the end of each schoolyear, the center should submit a performance report, and the next year’s plan of activities to the Development Committee of this University.

Article 11

The Charterwill take effect after the clearance of thePlanning Committee of Global Chinese Business Study Center, as well as the President of this University.Any amendment shall follow the same procedure.
